Frequent questions from people relocating
I have already left Russia. Can I order translation and apostille remotely?
Yes. The order is placed online: you upload a photo or scan of the document, we calculate the price and start the work. We obtain the apostille ourselves at the Russian authorities, your presence is not required. Finished originals are sent by courier or to a pickup point in Russia - to a relative's address or that of an authorized person, and the PDF scan is sent to you straight away.
Do you need the original document or is a scan enough?
In most cases a good scan or photo is enough: the notary certifies the translator's signature on the translation, which is attached to the copy. The original is needed in specific cases - for example when the apostille goes on the document itself rather than on a notarized copy. We warn you about this before the work begins.
Apostille or consular legalization - which one do I need?
It depends on the country. For parties to the 1961 Hague Convention an apostille is enough. If the country is not a party, consular legalization is required - a longer procedure through the Ministry of Justice, the Foreign Ministry and the consulate. We provide both services and pick the right one for your destination.
Will your translation be accepted abroad?
A Russian notarized translation with an apostille is accepted in most countries. Some states, however, require a sworn or court translator on their own territory - in that case it is enough to bring the apostilled original or a notarized copy. We clarify the receiving party's requirements before the order, so no work is done in vain.
How many documents does a move usually take?
